CHOOSING THE PERFECT HALLWAY TILES:

For most of us, the first thing we see as we walk across our homely threshold after a long day at work is the hallway.

It’s the first sign of welcome & the first psychological indicator for your head to acknowledge your workday is done & for your heart to engage in that first smile of relief. Boom, welcome home!

Matching your home style to tile design

Your hallway is the first internal declaration of who you are and how your home embraces your personal style. Are you:

  • Old English?
  • Farmhouse terracotta?
  • Wood plank effect lines?
  • Patterned & bright?
  • Neutral & light?
  • Formal & toned?
  • Natural stone or a structured slate-effect?

There’s a lot to get right with your hallway. Not only is it the first statement of the house internally, but it is also the one room which possibly needs to work the hardest.

Tiles for the hallway “the gateway to your home”

A hallway is the beating channel of your house, the main thoroughfare for all both coming & going.

Do we have a porch prior to your grand entrance or do we need to concern ourselves with the possibility of safety? Children, pets and guests bring in the elements of our Great British weather with them. Avoiding slippery accidents is crucial.

We will help guide you through all of these questions during your visit to a Tiles Away showroom. We’ll be happy to answer all your questions with regards to the pro’s & cons of structured, ceramic, vitrified, polished, antislip, porcelain & stone tiles & each of their suitabilities to your project.

Daylight affects the look of your hallway tiles

Take note of how much natural daylight your hallway captures throughout the day. this will potentially help you know how dark the tone of your tile can go without seeming to sombre & overwhelming.

Make notes of the following plans:

  • What are the dimensions of your hallway?
  • How does it lead off into other rooms?
  • Would you like to make the hallway look wider or longer?
  • Do you need to match up with floorings in other rooms leading off from your hall?

As we said, it’s a lot to take in & without fixed ideas to start with you’ll need to be prepared to take a bit of extra time getting this room right.

We will have sample tiles for you to take home with you so that you can get a feel for how they will look in your house.
